House & Robertson served as executive architect for a major remodel and renovation of the guest rooms, corridors and public areas of the 14-story Mondrian Hotel in West Hollywood, completed in 2008. Originally constructed in 1959 as an apartment tower, the Sunset Strip landmark building received a complete renovation of all 246 guestrooms including all new walls, ceilings, bathrooms, finishes and furniture. The new interiors, designed by the New York City based Benjamin Noriega-Ortiz, included a reconfiguration of the main lobby and adjacent Sea Bar area. As part of the renovation, major upgrades to the building’s mechanical, electrical, plumbing and life-safety systems were completed. While entailing major construction work, renovations to the luxury boutique hotel were executed sequentially on a floor-by-floor basis that allowed only five floors to be out of service at any given time.
