KGM is a thriving lighting design firm with two architects as its senior principals. When they decided to purchase and renovate a freestanding masonry and wood building in an industrial area of El Segundo in 2010, they engaged House & Robertson to develop and execute the renovation of the building and implementation of their interior design improvements. The project included 11,000 sq. ft. of custom improvements for their offices as well as all new mechanical and electrical distribution. A new roof was designed with the insulation above the plywood deck to allow the existing wood structure to be exposed as a design feature within the space. Additional architectural elements were added to the entry façade to make it more inviting and to create a patio accessible from the main conference space.
