The MTV Networks renovated an existing five-story office building in Santa Monica as the headquarters for their western U.S. Operations. House & Robertson was executive architect for the creation of a new entry at the west end of an existing traditional office building. It incorporated an entry canopy, partial recladding of the facades, and new iconic elements at the entry plaza, including a whimsical “red boat” feature at the new entry that hides an existing electrical transformer on the corner where the new entry was developed. The project also included development of a new lobby space for MTV, incorporating unique branding elements including a fully restored and decorated Airstream trailer. Completed in 1997, this project was awarded the 1998 IIDA Best Commercial Project Caliber Award and the 1997 Valley Development Forum Best Commercial Award.
