Cutting-edge design firm PRAR Arquitectura from Puerto Rico was selected as a finalist in the 2010 design competition sponsored by the Los Angeles Unified School District. They partnered with House & Robertson to assist in the development of the technical aspects of their solution to the competition brief, which challenged its participants to create a design prototype that reimagined how modular classroom buildings could be efficiently deployed across the hundreds of school campuses in the LAUSD system. HRA worked with a local team to generate preliminary fabrication details, engineering solutions and cost data for the prototype, and participated in all interactions with LAUSD during the competition period.
